The Saturday Show April 26th

The Saturday Show April 26th

It’s Saturday at 9:00—time for the Monster Magic Show! Good morning. Sadly, I’m out of milk, so it’s black tea and coffee for me. But I’ve made up for that deficit with plenty of magic to review. Let’s dive in.

Jumper by Wang Z & Bacon Magic (£29.99)
A signed card is lost in the deck, then the top section jumps to reveal it. You can even have multiple cards leap into your other hand. The gimmick is thin, sturdy, and easy to use after a little practice. You can trigger it by clapping, tapping, or even shooting with a Nerf gun making it super visual and versatile, great as a finale. It will wear out eventually, but comes with repair materials as well as with a wind-up toy and spares included, it’s excellent value.

Persona by David Jonathan (£21.50)
A personality test with custom cards. In one routine, the spectator ends on the only positive card (“awesome”); in another, all the cards are upbeat, except the one they land on, which delivers a funny kicker.
The cards are marked with Phil Smith’s optical system, and you get a wallet to carry both sets. Virtually self-working, easy to present, and very entertaining. The “rude” version is hilarious with the right audience, while the “awesome” version is perfect for strangers.

Ignite by Urbain and Gentleman’s Magic (£44.99)
A Zippo-style lighter that secretly works as a flash device. Stores flash wool neatly, reloads quickly, and avoids messy pockets.
Creates clean vanishes, productions, and transformations. Available in several finishes. The tutorial covers handling, routines, and maintenance. A practical, stylish everyday carry for visual magic.

Absolute Madness by Craig Petty (£44.99)
Craig’s new book, packed with tricks, essays, and a full performance video. Clear explanations, lots of photos, and Ryland’s comments add extra ideas. Covers cards, Mirage deck, coins, ball bearings, and more.
Essays give practical advice on topics like making tricks your own and marketing. A great read for beginners and working magicians alike, and an excellent gateway into magic books.

Roentgen Envelope by TCC Magic (£26.50)
An insanely clean billet test: spectators freely choose, handle, and seal billets in opaque envelopes, yet you know which one is inside. Everything can be inspected, even afterwards. Best used with limited sets (ESP symbols, money amounts, etc.). Tutorial is short but clear. One of the most fooling, practical envelope systems I’ve seen.

Oliver the Magic Raccoon (£120)
A high-quality alternative to the classic Rocky Raccoon. Soft, durable, with a good spring and characterful look. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination and no instructions are included, but it’s the closest you’ll find to the original. Perfect if you plan to use it in shows.
