Ring Flight is a true classic of magic, first devised by Al Koran in 1968.
The effect is a true miracle in the spectators eyes, A borrowed ring is vanished and appears inside the magician’s key case.
Koran’s method is still probably the best solution bar the key case which I imagine fell out of fashion in the 70s. That is why new variations of the effect, keep Koran’s core concept but try and eliminate the case. (I have found while odd, the key case still flies (pun intended))
The best yet is Dave Bonsall’s Ring Flight Revolution which uses the modern car key remote. It is simply a beautiful and logical solution. It isn’t cheap, but is hand built by Dave and comes with a guarantee. With jewellery and keys fast becoming the only object we carry, this should be an everyday carry.
The only reason, think more people aren’t doing this is because they are worried about losing the ring, and horror stories abound about precious heirlooms zinging across the room. I take these tales with a good pinch of salt as the ring only travels a short distance from hand to back pocket, there isn’t a big force involved and the clip 100% secure.
In my opinion the best alternative for peace of mind is Nick Einhorn’s Pro Flight. This is a solution as elegant as Nick himself. It uses a simple screw key ring, which doubles as both a method and extra layer of impossibility. The ring never leaves your control so you have complete peace of mind.
