One of the most significant contributions to mentalism ever published. Over 800 pages, it's 21 books in one. The breadth of material is STAGGERING.

"I’m thrilled that T.A. Waters’ Mind, Myth & Magick has been reprinted. Spanning over 800 pages, this book is a treasure trove of routines and ideas. It covers nearly every aspect of mentalism, offering page after page of practical, mind-blowing material for both professionals and amateurs alike. The effects are clearly written, powerful, and easy to follow. Learn from T.A. Waters—one of the greatest mentalists of our time. This book should be required reading for anyone serious about the art!" - Bill Malone

"If Corinda is the Bible of Mentalism, T.A. Waters is the New Testament." - Gaetan Bloom

"Mind, Myth & Magick is T.A. Waters' magnum opus, in which he brilliantly redefines the genre, blending pure mentalism and mental magic in equal measure. It is a mammoth, 800-page collection of 21 earlier books and the breadth of material on offer is staggering, it seems like every possible theme, presentation, trick and prop is explored and usually multiple times! Upon re-reading the whole book, two things really stood out to me: firstly, how inventive Waters was - you will regularly find yourself marvelling at how clever a method is, and there is a lot of material in this book that could have been marketed separately. Secondly, how smart and opinionated he was. His thoughts on mentalism and its performance permeate the book and demonstrate what a deep thinker and important voice he was. Essential reading, it's a cornerstone work that you simply must have in your library." - Mark Elsdon

"This book has provided me with years of enjoyment, ideas, and insight. You must own it to get the full impact. Among the 10 best in my library." - Marc Salem

Dreams of Mentalism Made Real!

Have you ever dreamed you could walk out on stage, ask the spectators to call out at random a multi-digit number, then turn to reveal a card pinned to your back in a position where you obviously can’t reach it - a card that states the precise number just stipulated?

Have you ever wished you could record for later verification - hours or days before the fact - the appearance of a perfect stranger who will sit in a specific seat in your audience?

Have you ever wanted to conjure up a live, sixteen-inch-tall demon in a candle-lit séance room, or divine a mentally chosen name with the aid of a mysteriously animated talisman that floats in a bottle of Atlantean seawater?

Have you ever desired to answer an audiences innermost concerns and questions without a whisper of chicanery - to tell people things about them that you couldn’t possibly know, just by touching some possession of theirs - to divine the astrological signs of total strangers without having the slightest knowledge of their birthdates?

These are but a few of the things that T.A. Waters has dreamed, then taken as challenges, and to which he has devised ingenious and practical solutions.

Mind, Myth & Magick is packed with exciting ideas and keen insights on mentalism, thoughtfully and thoroughly explained in this remarkable book by one of the field’s finest thinkers and most inspired innovators - T.A. Waters!

Michael Weber:

What do I think about T.A. Waters’ Mind, Myth, and Magick?

  • There’s an entire 6-part impromptu mentalism act that’s probably better than the one you’re currently performing on page 674.
  • Who was using the Ishihara Test for mentalism back in 1961? The answer, and a powerful effect, can be found on page 723.
  • Interested in performing Psychometry (Free Will, Desire, Sneak Thief) without looking foolish? Begin your reading on page 115.
  • Want to fool Penn and Teller (and everyone else)? Take a look at what’s on page 31.
  • A three-object divination using ordinary objects and a simple yet surprising gimmick worthy of Ian Fleming’s Q? It’s on page 9, (and you could make it in under two minutes.)
  • Check the 11th (unnumbered) page to learn what T.A. thought about women in the field of mentalism.
  • Seeking a miracle method for a real-time three-part prediction? Start on page 59.
  • A version of Any Card (really, any card) at Any Number (actually any number) using only the cards in an ordinary card box that's on the table from the start, and the spectator can count down to the card himself (no specially printed gaffs, no rough and smooth, no fake deals, no apps).
  • All of the above and dozens and dozens of other principles, miracles, methods, and wisdom all in one place.

Thousands of other mentalists and magicians have purchased this book. You have the chance to become one of the rare few who have actually read it.

WOW!

I planned to order this when the first batch were in stock but I took so long getting around to it that they sold out (I say "So long" - I think it was about 4 days). So as soon as Alex had them back in I ordered a copy as a Birthday prezzie to myself. I'm now just under 100 pages in and despite some of the effects being 'not right for me', I'm finding it to be a fantastic read and those effects still have little nuggets that have my cogs a-turnin' and I'm sure I can use these ideas in different effects.
As well as the tricks, this book contains some gems of psychology embedded within.
I'm over the moon with this book and feel like a treasure hunter with each page turn.
The only negative I really have is that the names of the effects and each section can be quite abstract. With this being a new reprinting, it would have been nice if the publishers had taken the time to give a brief (one line) synopsis of each effect on the contents page so if you want to research a specific type of effect, you know where to look.
But as a book-nook Indiana Jones who loves mooching through the pages for lost treasures, I'm absolutely loving this book. I absolutely, absolutely recommend it.
Oh and as always (goes without saying really) the service from Monster Magic puts all the other shops to shame. Super speedy, super reliable.

Just what I had in mind!

This is an excellent resource. It is a massive tome featuring a mixture of effects and techniques. These are well explained and clearly illustrated. I am no expert on mentalism! I am looking for ideas for an effect from this genre which I will include in a show I am developing. We all have our preferences, and personally 'fortune telling' is not an area that I am really comfortable with. That still leaves a lot of other areas of mentalism!! I have read just under half of this book and have made notes on close to 40 items. About 30 of these are techniques which I think could be useful in my magic. And these are not necessarily limited to use in mentalism effects. About 10 items are powerful effects that could be used as they stand. And that is in less than half the book! For me this represents excellent value for money. It is a great reference book, and a source of potential ideas for new effects.
