After nearly 15 years, Luke Dancy returns with SPECTRA, a bold modern evolution of the Red Hot Card trick by Al Leech which gained popularity as the Chicago Opener (also known as Red Hot Mama) when Bar Magic took off.
Your spectator begins by naming any colour not just red or blue, but any colour they can imagine. Then they freely select a card from the deck. With no suspicious moves, the back of the card they just chose is revealed to have changed into the exact colour they named. It's set aside as an impossible moment of personalised magic.But it doesn't end there.
A second card is now selected. When the magician turns over the odd-backed card that's been in plain view, it's no longer the original selection; it has now changed into the second card they just chose.
Unbelievably this is not a gimmicked deck yet it requires no difficult sleight-of-hand or palming. It is super direct magic that feels as fair as it looks.

I love performing this trick! I've used RHM and Chicago as openers for years, and adding the choice of colour gives it that extra moment. It's so simple to perform, with a well-structured routine, great gimmicks and some really clever tools for adding and removing cards!

yeah this isn't great.. if i try to find something positive it would be that their are gimmicks supplied for red or blue decks so that's appreciated. but my issue is with the method... the effect is basically your spectator names a colour before you proceed into the Chicago opener routine and their named colour is what the card turns into etc... out of everything i do card wise the Chicago opener always gets crazy reactions still to this day so i thought this would be great to try and upgrade the effect but the method is just to much messing about to bother with in my opinion. .. it uses a r&s principle and their are 7 colours so the method is basically adding a stack of 14 cards plus another gimmicked card that is 3 cards thick... so you are essentially now holding a 69 card deck! it looks massive, it feels horrible and the effect just isnt strong enough (imo) to warrant this drawback. at this point im thinking "index in the pocket and just load the named coloured card into the deck under misdirection".. he later mentions this idea in a alternate handling section along with another idea using certain wallets etc . iv put it straight up for sale as theres no way il ever be using this

This is a well thought out trick, they could have just given a red back gimmick but they give red and blue so you have the option. Easy to do and adds a nice new dimension to a classic trick. One of the gimmicks needs looking after, it is a card box so if you sit on it then it will squash. Well worth buying

I was using an alternative brand repositionable glue for the flaps on my himber envelopes but it wasn't very good at all. I could never rely on it to hold the flap closed on the underside of the envelope. This glue is awesome. So far I have not had any issue and the flaps have been held in place until I open them
