The Saturday Show November 8th

Let’s jump into some magic reviews.

Silk to Egg by Michael Ammar and Bazar de Magia (£34.50)
This classic routine transforms a silk handkerchief into an egg, then switches places with the silk in your pocket. You reveal that the egg was hollow and peel off a sticker before cracking a real egg into a glass for a great surprise finish. It’s easy to perform, full of laughs, and Ammar’s 12-minute tutorial teaches it clearly. The props are good quality: two durable latex eggs (white and brown), a red silk, stickers, and a carrying carton. It’s ideal for stage or parlour, strong magic, simple handling, and great reactions.

Wild Chips by Joel Anthony (£51.99)
This is a poker-chip version of the classic “Wild Card” plot. You start with blank chips and use a blue and a red chip to transform them one by one, then back to blanks. The routine is smooth, visual, and well-structured, avoiding repetitive moves. The props are top-quality clay chips that look and sound authentic. You get ten chips, including special ones for switches, plus three routines: Printing Machine, Fly Across, and Chase the Copper. The 40-minute tutorial covers everything in detail. It’s clever, practical, and a great choice for magicians who prefer chips over coins.

No Small Talk by Chris Rawlins (34.00)
A brilliant, easy-to-carry piece of mentalism based around a “Travel Talk” question card. You ask a participant ten yes/no questions and predict exactly how many “yeses” they’ll give. Then, from a list of open questions, they choose one and you reveal not only the question but their written answer. It’s clean, engaging, and powerful. The envelope is cleverly gimmicked, the props are simple, and the routine fits in your wallet. Chris’s 45-minute black-and-white tutorial explains every nuance and performance detail, emphasising natural presentation and audience connection. A modern, elegant mind-reading effect.

Dean's Box by Dean Dill and Nielsen Magic (499.99)
A legendary rope and ring illusion from the late Dean Dill. Two ropes threaded through a wooden box impossibly link and unlink before a solid ring penetrates them. The craftsmanship on Nielsen’s walnut box is exquisite—solid, durable, and beautiful. The routine, based on Paul Curry’s “Linked,” is clear, participatory, and deeply baffling. You get the box, ropes, rings, detailed illustrated instructions, and video tutorials featuring Dean himself and Tom Frank. It’s a collector’s piece as much as a powerful performance item—perfect for stage, parlour, or display.
