Calen Morelli's Building Blocks is a bit of a head-scratcher. You start with three queens, looking as unremarkable as any other cards, until you spot the backs. They've got these weird shapes that make your brain work harder than it probably should. It's like when you swear your toast has the face of Elvis on it.
The trick plays with that moment where your mind decides to believe something that's not really there. Out of nowhere, a full card appears right where your brain guessed it would be. No sneaky covers, just a card popping into existence. It's like your mind pulled a fast one on itself and forgot to tell you.
This isn't just about cards; it's more a lesson in how easily your mind can be fooled. That thought might hang around longer than the trick does. And yes, let them take the card home as a little memento of the time they saw something that wasn't supposed to be there, but somehow was.
Here's what's in the box:
A set of handcrafted gaff cards with magnets to keep things smooth. They're made from real playing cards, not just printed on.
A matching set of non-gaffed cards.
A sturdy Himber envelope, because cards deserve a good home.
This matches the TCC mini baseballs exactly and perfect for the first load for the cup. Was going to buy another for the second load but might go traditional and use a lime.
I had heard good things about this book, so decided to pick it up. It's a great read full of great effects like colour changing knives, to sponge balls. But the best bits are the little details and the small changes you can make. Well worth picking up.
