Okito Blox is like giving the old Okito Box a new lease on life, swapping coins for a solid cube. It's a whole kit for making things disappear, reappear, switch spots, or pass through each other. Comes with the Boston Blox, a cube, rattle lid, a bag, and the solid box. All neatly packed, and somehow it all fits together.
The tutorial's got 15 core moves and techniques, some you'll pick up in a snap, others might have you talking to yourself in the mirror. Here's what you get:
The Turnover: Flip the box without anyone noticing. Once you've got it, it's like riding a bike, you just do it.
Fake Shake: Make it sound like the cube's still in there when it's not. Keeps them guessing and you looking innocent.
Finger Tip Roll: Roll the box around naturally, changing its position like it's no big deal.
Through the Hand: Pretend the cube goes through your hand. Classic "what just happened?" moment.
Fake Insert: Convince them you put the cube in the box while secretly holding onto it. Misdirection at its best.
The Drop: A nod to the Denemark Drop. It's a keeper for a reason.
The Teleporting Blox: Make the cube jump locations. Might take a few goes to not look shocked when it works.
Smashed Through: Cube goes through a sealed box. Simple, direct, leaves them scratching their heads.
The Drop Out: Sneak the cube out again, like it's no big deal.
Pushed Through: Push the cube through a sealed box. It's a neat little head-turner.
Palm Switch: Swap one block for another without a hitch. If only all swaps were this easy.
Bobo Switch: A classic switch with a modern twist. Because sometimes old dogs learn new tricks.
And you've got some mini effects and sequences too:
Kick Back Monte: Cube moves between your pocket and the box, then throws in a little curveball at the end.
Cube to Bag: Make the cube disappear from the box and pop up on the bag. Pure sleight of hand, or so they think.
Cube to Bag.. Simplified: Less fiddly version for when you can't be bothered with all the steps.
Boxed and Bagged: Cube vanishes from the box, reappears in a previously empty bag. Right there, under their nose, like magic.
The kicker is pulling out the solid box at the end. After all that, it's a solid surprise and a proper "aha" moment.
The lid's trickier than it looks too, with a rattle to make it seem like the cube's still inside. These little details are what make Okito Blox a real puzzle. Get your timing right and even the simplest moves look like witchcraft.
The tutorial also gives you two full routines to piece all this together. But don't just stick with that. Mix in your own moves, try out other Okito Box techniques, or borrow from other magic tricks if you're feeling adventurous.
Okito Blox hands you the gear and the ideas. What you do with them is your call. (It's all sturdy plastic and comes with a velvet bag, in case you were wondering.)
I have been playing around with this a bit and it works well. It does need a small amount of preparation depending on the effect you want to perform but this is very easy to do. The gimmicks are provided but you will need to provide a matching deck as that is not supplied.
