Slasher by Ryan Stock

If you're into making people squirm in their seats (and not because you forgot deodorant), Slasher might be your kind of trick. Xavier Mortimer and Eric Ross seem to think it's the right amount of unsettling for a good laugh.

Matt Disero reckons this is the replacement for the old knife-through-arm routine. Bonus: you won't have to explain it to airport security, which is always nice. Kevin Cunliffe says shock factor seekers need it, while Rocco Kult's just chuffed it's both practical and creepy. Nicholas Lawrence gives it a thumbs up, unless your nan's not into horror films.

Here's the gist: you pretend to do a bit of DIY surgery on your cheek or arm with a box cutter, then, ta-da, you're healed. The prop's made of plastic and as dangerous as the safety scissors you had in school. You can even get a mate in on it, assuming they're not the easily horrified type.

Ryan Stock's the mastermind here, a bloke who's been known to munch on glass and have a friendly relationship with mousetraps. He's managed to pull off a trick that adds a bit of sideshow flair without needing a first aid kit. Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're into magic with a bit of a jolt, Slasher's worth having a gander at.
